It's 5 years since we brought Active Root to our first customers. Each week in August we're going to be reviewing one of those years - this week 2021!

2021 was a year of tow halves, with the first part of the year being in a tough lockdown, we travelled to as many events as possible in the autumn and winter, as well as employing our first event manager. We also launched 3x new flavours: caffeinated Guarana Gel Mix, Lemonbalm ElectroLite+ and kiwi & strawberry Summer Punch.

To celebrate half a decade of Active Root, we're giving away 1x Original Ginger 6 pack (our first product!), with EVERY ORDER OVER £5 in August.

Caffeinated Guarana Gel Mix

Due to the popularity of Ginger and Cacao & Peppermint Gel Mix, we thought we'd add a flavour with a bit more punch!

Caffeinated Guarana Gel Mix has 85mg of caffeine per serving, which is the equivalent of 1x standard cup of coffee. It's therefore perfect for giving you an extra boost at the end of your event. 

Lemonbalm ElectroLite+

We also launched Lemonbalm ElectroLite+, our second ElectroLite flavour containing twice the amount of sea salt compared to Original Ginger ElectroLite (hence the +).

Lemonbalm ElectroLite is great for when you know you're going to sweat and need to rehydrate, for example during hot summer workouts or during a turbo session. 

Summer Punch

In the summer we brought out Active Root Summer Punch, a limited edition flavour containing strawberry and kiwi.

It's available again this summer, on top of two new limited edition flavours: Blueberry Zest ElectroLite and Chilli Chocolate Gel Mix. 

Event managers

With events restarting after lock-down we also employed our first event manager Lee Hibbert.

This year we've employed two more: Mike Good and Sean Webster. All three are now touring the country supporting your endurance events with gingery goodness! 

aN autumn of events

Because we'd been in lockdown for the first part of the year, we used the autumn to attend as many events as possible, doing a stint of 8 weekends in a row, including the Devil's Foot half in the Scottish Borders, Kielder Marathon, Wooler Ultras, Keswick Mountain Festival and many more!

For all of August we are giving away 1x Original Ginger 6x Sachet Pack with all orders over £5 (automatically added to basket). Alongside our Original Ginger Sports Drink Tub, this was our first product with each sachet being plain white, which we had to stick our own printed label on to!
