2025 Ambassador Team Achievements

Helen Keith

Our 2025 Ambassador Team has had an incredible year of achievements powered by Active Root products. Our team features a real range of athletes participating in various sports and events including triathlons, marathons and ultras, and HYROX events. In this article we’ve featured a number of our ambassadors and recount their various journeys which include travelling across the world to compete at World Championships in Australia; running a marathon at Everest Base Camp; a medal-winning performance at a 24-hour track race; and a 100km solo expedition through the Peak District. Their events and achievements are multiple and varied, but in common they share a dedication to their sport, consistent hard work during training, and a fuelling and hydration strategy powered by ginger. At Active Root we’re proud of their ambitions and achievements.

Karen

Back in April, ambassador Karen achieved a major highlight by winning a silver medal at the British Championship 24-hour track race in Crawley. Later in the year she also ran for Team Scotland at the Four Nations Backyard Championship in Perthshire, where the team retained their title. Karen has been integral to community running in Scotland with Wildheart Runners, and is making a return to road running with the Malaga Marathon in December. Karen has fuelled her training and incredible achievements with Active Root.

“Active Root gels and carb drink are absolutely essential in fuelling both the race itself and my training buildup. The carb drink and energy chews were game-changers - they're brilliant at keeping nausea at bay during those gruelling ultra distances. I'm fuelling my training runs with the new apple flavour gels, which I'm absolutely loving and plan to use on race day. I rely on the electrolyte tablets and lemon and ginger recovery drink to support my recovery between training sessions and races, and they've made a real difference in how I bounce back. It's been an amazing year, and Active Root has genuinely played a huge part in helping me achieve these goals. Thanks for all your support!”

Hayley

Our ambassador Hayley has also had an amazing 2025, coming third at the British Triathlon Championships, completing her first Ironman 70.3 in Bolton (and coming fifth in her age group), and in October she travelled to Australia to compete in the World Sprint Triathlon Championships. Hayley is taking on the full Ironman distance in 2026!

“All of this wouldn’t have been possible without the fuelling of Active Root. Every session and every race I have Active Root with me, whether that’s with the Peppermint sport mix, or the energy gels (apple is my favourite) or replenishing with the electrolite tabs. Not once have I felt unwell during the big races or training sessions and that’s down to natural products from Active Root.”

Chris

This year has seen Chris take on some personal running challenges as well as a trail marathon and a backyard ultra where he achieved an incredible distance of 83 miles. He’s found consistency in his training and he often alternates between our Gel Mix and our Energy Gels. In August he ran 100km on a solo expedition in the Peak District carrying his own supplies, and in 2026 he is planning to take on a 100 mile attempt.

“The single serve gel mix pouches came in very handy when I had to carry all my own supplies. During the backyard ultra I used an energy gel every hour to help maintain sodium and carbs. After 20 hours my race ended, but even after 19 gels I still had no gut issues.”

Fran

Ambassador Fran has had to adapt her original plans for 2025 after suffering an injury. With running off the cards initially she focused on swimming and cycling, staying active and being patient. It paid off with a 10km PB later in the year, and her first half marathon in over a year. As an ultra runner, Fran has had to learn to adapt and cope with setbacks, but has stayed consistent with her recovery and training, and has some exciting goals for 2026.

“Active Root has helped me come back from injury this year. For me it's not just about having good fuel on a race, it's about having it there through the long training days and knowing you have that consistency. It can make or break you when you get it wrong on race day so you need it to work from day one and Active Root ALWAYS has.”

John

Mixing it up between HYROX and endurance running events this year, John has achieved several personal bests in 2025, travelled to HYROX events in Spain and the UK, and raised money for charity during the year too.

“Active Root energy gels and sports mix have fuelled me through everything, from HYROX races to 24-hour ultra endurance events. Having a settled stomach and consistent energy levels has led to several personal bests throughout the year.”

Sharon

Although ‘mixed’ is the word Sharon has used to describe 2025, we’re proud of her consistency and ability to show up for herself when times get tough. With a number of planned events not going ahead due to cancellation and illness, Sharon still managed to achieve a half marathon PB at Barns Green, and is planning to run the Portsmouth Marathon in December - in her words, “for a bit of Christmas ‘fun’”! She has completed marathons and ultra marathons this year, explored new routes, enjoyed runs with friends and has had a great time on the trails.

“Always fuelled by the amazing products from Active Root. My favourites still being the Peppermint Sports Drink and the amazing golden nuggets of pure heaven the Natural Ginger and Lemon Energy Chews which started me on my love of Active Root.”

Paul

Ambassador Paul has had a great year in his training and racing, completing three ultra marathons - one of which was the longest distance he has run. He’s not done with events yet as he has another ultra to complete before the year is out!

“Active Root has helped me with my training and races. I love the gels which I always take in my runs but especially love the new flavours that have come out recently. I also take the Active Root electrolytes daily and not just on race or training days!”

Nicky

Finally, our ambassador Nicky achieved an absolute bucket list goal with her adventure to take on the Everest Marathon on 29th May, the anniversary of Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary summiting the world’s highest mountain, the perfect day for a marathon starting at Everest Base Camp. With multiple flights to get there, a 12-day acclimatisation trek to Base Camp, followed by the marathon itself, this was certainly an adventure for Nicky.

“My target time was 10 hours, so I was thrilled with 10:03 - 142nd out of 216 (some didn’t even make the start line thanks to altitude sickness). I was also one of the oldest participants - possibly the oldest Brit there! If I can do it, you can chase your own adventure too. Would I do it again? No. Did I love it? Absolutely. It was the toughest marathon I’ve ever done, but what an incredible experience. I feel genuinely lucky to have lived it — all powered by Active Root!”

Many thanks to our incredible 2025 Ambassador Team for sharing their achievements this year. We’re proud to have played a part in their successes!
